Description
Chris Catlow began Sentio in 2013, after seven vintages of working on the Mornington Peninsula combined with a further five vintages of working with superstar producer, Benjamin Leroux in Burgundy. His time with Ben Leroux drove him to explore individual sites as his main focus for Sentio, with a number of single vineyard Chardonnays as his main focus.
Complementing his exploration of exceptional sites across Victoria, Chris discovered a selection of vines closer to his home in Beechworth, north-east of Victoria, from which he produced his Blanc, a blend of wines that evolves each year. The 2016 is a blend of 90% Savagnin and 10% Arneis – varieties rarely seen together with their respective homes of the Jura, France and Piedmont, Italy. Here, they present a balancing act against each other’s expressive styles. Arneis’ floral aromatics and light nuttiness counter Savagnin’s inherent texture and grip to create a wine with incredible texture that is perfect for pairing with white meats and fresh seafood.
Having been recognised as an Australian ‘Young Gun of Wine’ Finalist, Chris’s wines are not to be overlooked as his presence continues to grow.
