Description
The village of Pernand-Vergelesses is often overlooked, being lumped together with Aloxe-Corton into an amalgam under the banner of the hill of Corton. That said, interest in the village has continued to increase with Les Belles Filles being one of the more interesting sites. It has a cooler north-facing vineyard of around 1 hectare. It lies very close to the Grand Cru of Corton en Charlemagne, the white portion of the Grand Cru of Corton. Pierre-Yves describes this vineyard as “very limestone” which is translated through the wine with a purity of minerality, further enhanced by the site’s cool position. The warmth of 2018 helped to bring additional fruit flavours to the wine while still being pure and approachable in its youth.
