Description

Emmanuel Lassaigne leads the family domaine based in Montgueux, located towards the south of Champagne and near the city of Troyes, which was the former capital of the region. Montgueux’s nickname is the ‘Montrachet of Champagne’, descriptive of its incredible power that you see in the Chardonnay from the village. It is always one of the earliest villages be harvested due to its exposure and expedition. Emmanuel’s style is one of hard work and involvement, to the extent that he disgorges each bottle by hand as opposed to the commonplace use of machinery by almost all others in the region. Never content to rest on his laurels, Emmanuel is a man of constant re-invention and discovery with a number of small batch creations from year to year. Les Vignes de Montgueux (meaning, the vines of Montgueux) introduces his ranges of wines, with his signature approaches of using natural yeasts for primary fermentation, minimal use of sulphur and zero dosage. It demonstrates the pinnacle of producers from Montgueux and the potential for complexity from the village.
