Fanny Sabre Bourgogne Rouge 2024

$90.00 excl. GST

Who – Fanny Sabre
Where – Burgundy, France
What – Pinot Noir

For those familiar with Fanny’s Bourgogne Rouge, you’ll notice the distinctly different label.

2024 was a year marked by incredibly low yields across Burgundy, but the extremes to which Fanny was hit was an entirely new level. What would normally amass to approximately 30 barrels came to just 3 in totality. The resulting wine is a blend of her Volnay, Pommard, Beaune Clos des Renardes as well as Bourgogne Rouge parcels.

The winemaking remains the same: 100% whole bunch used across all parcels, with restraint impact of oak. The added complexity coming from the myriad of appellations assembled here: a wine that certainly overdelivers on a ‘mere’ Bourgogne Rouge.

Roughly 900 bottles only produced. This won’t last long.

Description

Fanny Sabre did not initially plan on being a winemaker. It was only during her university study of law that her father’s demise in 2006 facilitated her return to the family domaine—where she discovered her love for working both in the vines and cellar. Under the initial guidance of natural wine guru Philippe Pacalet, she began farming the estate organically. The 4.5 hectare domaine is now farmed entirely organical Fanny’s style manages to balance a deft touch in the cellar with only the most minimal of intervention.
