Jacky Blot, and his son Jean-Philippe, have been on a mission to make the world pay attention to the quality of single vineyard, terroir-driven examples of Chenin Blanc that can compete with the best in the world. Since purchasing an eight hectare of old vines in Montlouis in the late 1980s, Jacky’s work has built up the quality of the wines into one of the finest addresses in the Loire.

From a silex-soiled, 6 hectare plot within the 12 hectare, walled Clos du Mosny is from 40-50 year old vines facing south. It is fermented and aged in barrel (20% new; remainder 1-4yrs old)
“At harvest-time we have 120 pickers, to ensure that grapes are brought in exactly at the right moment, when there is perfect balance between ripeness and acidity”, says Jean-Philippe Blot.
