Description

Established in the 1970s by Michel Grisard, the estate of Prieuré Saint Christophe is now a local legend. Later in 1994, he converted the domaine to biodynamics which was, at that time, largely unknown. Grisard worked with incredibly low yields across the 6 hectares of white and red planted vines, until the Giachino brothers took over the vineyard in 2015 to further his legacy.

Savoie is home to the grape variety Altesse, also known as Roussette or Roussette de Savoie. While it ripens late, it also carries wonderful citrus and tropical flavours with vibrant acidity. Prieuré Saint Christophe brings out the grape’s full potential, aging in barrel for one year followed by a further six months in tank to produce a textural and age-worthy example. The parcel of Altesse is only 1.4 hectares, yet produces arguably the greatest expression of varietal Altesse.

The legendary work of Michel Grisard is in safe hands and continues from strength to strength with the Giachino family as they continue working biodynamically in the vines, with every intention to further elevate its quality.
