Antoine Sanzay Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux 2017

Antoine Sanzay is the seventh generation of the Sanzay family to farm vines in the village of Varrains. For most of the family’s history, they sold their grapes to the local cooperative, until Antoine came along and decided to take the domaine into a new direction. Joining the domaine full-time in 1999, Antoine has taken on the estate’s 11 hectares with certified organic farming from 2014.

2011 was Antoine’s first release of Les Poyeux.Considered by many as the top site for Cabernet Franc, Les Poyeux is a gentle slope, facing south/southwest. Sanzay’s parcel is from old vines (55+ years). Fermentation occurs in concrete, with 30 days on skins being being aged in old barrels for 18 months.
