Description
The art of wine-making is challenging enough—more so with climate change, especially for those in extreme, elevated climes like Savoie and the Jura.
For many years, Savoie and the Jura have largely gone under the radar and it’s no wonder; growing conditions are tough, wines are mostly produced only for local vin de soif drinking on ski slopes and outsiders knew little of these ‘unusual’ sounding grape varieties. The quality and potential of the region had yet to be discovered.
It is only recently that a ground swell of producers from the region, with a focus on quality and terroir-driven expressions, have begun to make waves to much international acclaim.
This curated selection from leading producers of the region highlights the remarkable quality of Savoie and the Jura, with potential that we’ve only just begun to scratch.
